What to Expect

When You Call:

When you call us to make an enquiry, you will speak directly to a qualified physiotherapist who will discuss with you whether Medella Private Physiotherapists are able to meet your needs. If we are, we will arrange a convenient time for one of our therapists to visit you at home.

Initial Visit:

During the first visit, the physiotherapist will take a detailed history from you about your condition.

There will be a physical aspect to the initial assessment which may involve looking at joint ranges, tone, sensation, and strength as well as some functional tasks.

Findings of the assessment will be fully discussed with you, along with the available options for treatment and their likely outcomes.

There will be an opportunity to set goals of what you want to achieve from your treatment, as well as time scales, session durations, and frequency.

They may ask your permission to contact your GP or consultant for further information pertinent to providing you with safe and effective treatment.

Follow-Up Sessions:

The nature of the follow-up sessions will have been discussed and agreed with you in the initial visit. These will be personalised for each client and may involve active and/or passive exercise programmes, manual therapy or mobility practice amongst others.

Equipment provision can be discussed as and when the need arises. We are able to provide mobility aids as well as aids to assist with some daily living tasks.

It will be expected for you to take an active part in your treatment/rehabilitation programme. Following each session, your physiotherapist will advise you on what exercises it would be beneficial for you to do before your next session.
