Leanne graduated in 2011 from the University of Brighton. Since then she has worked in various hospitals throughout Devon, Dorset and Hampshire. She has over 7 years of experience for the NHS working her way up to a senior position. Her specialist field is musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She has a wealth of experience treating fractures, soft tissue injuries, chronic pain, balance problems, pre and post op rehabilitation and elderly care.
She is specialised in creating 1:1 assessments and formulating individualised treatment programs to make sure patients reach their full potential and goals. She has worked with a range of groups such as the total knee replacement class, lower limb strength and conditioning classes and recently developing a shoulder education and exercise class to improve treatment outcome, motivation and overall wellbeing. She has also completed a Tai Chi adapted exercise course which was a key component in her elderly balance class.
Leanne loves to stay up to date with treatment techniques and has completed a number of post graduate courses such as Pilates level 1, taping and spinal courses. This has helped to expand her knowledge to provide the best possible care to patients.
She also has experience working with patients with chronic pain. She ran classes and education sessions as well as getting involved within the multidisciplinary team meetings, deciding patient care. Treating chronic pain is very different to managing acute pain and her experience of both means she has the skills equipped to manage these conditions.
To broaden her skills working with complex disabilities Leanne has volunteered and completed work with children and adults with severe learning disabilities and complex needs. This was a very different challenge and helped Leanne to understand the importance of communication styles and the need for exceptional interpersonal skills. All these skills she has transferred into musculoskeletal physiotherapy and elderly care.
In her free time Leanne is an avid sports lover. She has competed at a high level in badminton for her county over the last 10 years. In 2014 she trekked the Himalayas for the brain tumour charity and is hoping to trek Kilimanjaro soon. She also enjoys volunteering at the London marathon and other sporting events providing post event treatment and massage.
